2025 USRowing Winter Speed Order

Post by crewu »

Just over 2 weeks out and we have only 7 entries. Entries close Friday.

Where's all the fresh new talent?

Has Sorin hung up his oars?

Any word on Clark Dean getting back in the single to race?

Electronic Devices and Tools: Permitted for March 2025 Speed Order
At the upcoming Speed Order, competitors are permitted to use any chosen data collection method not normally permitted by the "World Rowing Allowable Electronics" rules.

Therefore Smart oars, Empower oarlocks, and the like are permitted for this event.

Please note - no real time transmission of data is allowed. Review of the data collected during racing is permitted, however it is impermissible to transmit any data to or from the boat in real time.

World Rowing will be considering this and other changes at the quadrenial congress in March. Following the congress, application of this rule change for future events will be considered

In the past one person has submitted camp entries, I am not sure if that includes singles or if they were left up to their own submissions.

I never saw it to play to anyone’s advantage to wait till the last moment to enter a race.

Lot of names yet to be revealed. On the men's singles side I would love to see a final with:

Clark Dean
Sorin Koszyk
Jacob Plihal
Ben Davison

Maybe Sam Melvin....who else? Any prominent newcomers to the scene?

Anyone back from Paris on the women's side?

Morning winds caused a delay. In racing this morning. A tighter window between heaths and quarter finals this afternoon

Only seeing Plihal and Melvin.

Doesn't seem like winning two medals in Paris has inspired newcomers to get into the game on the men's sweep side. Really disappointing.

Medal winners who end up returning oftentimes take the post-oly year off from racing (Tom Digby said he is taking 2 years off which is wild to me), if somebody hasn't officially retired I'm more interested in what they do next year.

Sorin is recovering from surgery still I believe but is doing another cycle. Davison I believe has retired from competing last I heard (currently asst coach at Ohio State).
