I don’t think Ohio State was as obvious as the others at the top list, but I agree they will get in. Of the others, I think it will be Alabama, Miami, Columbia. Alabama as a reward for their growth this season and support for solid performance; Miami because they genuinely separated themselves from Duke at ACCs; Columbia because despite a very limited racing schedule, the 1V and 2V were solid (and outpaced Dartmouth).

I do hope "reward for growth" is not a criteria for NCAA selection.

Re: Spring 2026 Season
Srsly, the only consideration of that type should go to the midwest schools who had bad early season results because of their extra long unrowable winter.
Both Harvard and Dartmouth put all three boats in the A Final -- I feel like the selectors generally favor that over Columbia's two eights but no four in the A Finals.

What I didn’t consider, which the committees will, is regional rankings.
https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/rowing/d1 ... l-rankings
After ensuring all conferences are represented and that the teams capable of winning are in, regional representation will be a consideration. I’m not sure if the selection committee has ever taken an at large from outside the top 6 within a given region. Which implies that selection is not about making sure all 22 teams are the top 22 teams. Otherwise, you would take conference winners as suggestions. Seems like there is a fair amount of weight given to broader geographic representation after the top teams are locked in.

I laughed as I looked through the "regions"SQUAREdown wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2026 12:06 pm What I didn’t consider, which the committees will, is regional rankings.

Interesting choices, but clearly conference based. Makes little sense in this brave new world.

Re: Spring 2026 Season
I don't think it's that deep. Keeping track of the top six in a conference doesn't mean that the committee is blind to everyone else. I'd also say you need to prove that at-large selections from the top six within each region are *not* the fastest crews.

I love how the conference hail mary matters when some people need it, but not when they don't.
