When was the withdrawal announced? Was the team already on-site in NJ when sanctions were announced? On one hand, if there was a communicated policy from Cornell that their students should do no such thing, and if the students did such thing, then Cornell is merely following through on their promise. On the other hand, it's been a week and a half...so it feels especially punitive. Maybe it didn't come to light until just now? The team surely should have known that knowingly disobeying school rules would have some sort of consequence...

Every single team is drinking after sprints. To warrant disqualification from IRAs the behavior must have been egregious (or so I'd assume). Otherwise every team would miss IRAs every year.

I'm hearing it was more than just drinking, but it's complete hearsay. Also, if Cornell Athletics was responsible for this enforcement, then it is an internal matter to Cornell, and other teams' behavior is not relevant.

100%

and yes, the word is drinking was not the main issue. There has been no official statement so I won't feed the rumor mill, but the word is it was much more serious.

But let's keep bashing Cornell and the AD because almost everyone else here knows better...

On a better note, MIT is in the final

Harvard 150 are he best technical crew of the IRA, light or heavy.

I feel for Columbia and Yale as they are out of the final a position they were used to being in

That was probably the best IRA final in years, right? New medalists, Harvard setting up a dynasty, love it. When did MIT last medal in an 8 at IRA?

I don’t know what was happening with wind race to race but Harvard dropping a time that would’ve won the heavy 1V is really something. Dartmouth would’ve been 4th, MIT 5th. Fast lightweights this year!

This footage was from 2023 - oops! But I suspect the margin would be not too different this year.

Has any program gone three years in a row without a loss?
