Re: US Squad and Racing
Be interesting if it provides some pathways for ACRA athletes to get noticed earlier.

So sad to hear. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him, and all who've seen him compete.

Re: 2026 World Rowing Cup II (Plovdiv, BUL 12 - 14 Jun 2026)
Impressive as the Sinkovics secure gold over NZ Yeah, maybe a bit of NZ getting quicker and the Sinkovics also gaining some speed. Still would not be surprised if they go back to the quad. And perhaps a bit of not a single A or B finalist from the M2X from World Cup I showing up at World Cup II. Pl...

Re: 2026 World Rowing Cup II (Plovdiv, BUL 12 - 14 Jun 2026)
so the US end up with 6 golds (a bit down on the 8 I predicted). The M8 will probably be a bit disappointed to be so far behind the Italians, the W8 was a bit of a non-event (as expected), but the single scullers make history, the first time one nation has finished 1st and 2nd in the M1X Had a look...

Re: US Squad and Racing
I was hoping for more speed on the men's side - none met the standard to automatically qualify. If the adjusted CST% (93.5) applied to trials and NSR results, then both men's boats met it with room to spare. Not clear from the USRowing article https://usrowing.org/news/racing-complete-at-the-nation...

Re: US Squad and Racing
First off, lots of really tight grouping in the fields for the 1xs...quick question on the men's 1x, what's up with putting 16th and 19th place from the TT into the second of the A/B semis? Excluding 6th and 8th places? And skipping over 13,14,15? Can anyone help me figure this out? And yes, 6th an...

Re: Amanda Kraus to step down as CEO
My thinking is when you hire a fixer, it means the board has identified some internal issue with the organization. The interim CEO fixes those issues so the house is ready for the new CEO. Of course, this is all pure spec. Not sure I see how he's a fixer for this type of organization, given no NGB ...

Re: Amanda Kraus to step down as CEO
Weird that it's an outsider in an interim role, presumably they had to do some sort of a search to find him, now do a bigger search to find someone else?

Re: LA regatta schedule
Don't forget, the races are also 25% shorter. Attending in person is definitely a 1% problem, but kind of sucks for the spectators and athletes, too.

Re: Which is the bigger win?
10 boats raced at Worlds this year. 4 boats raced in the Grand. Some years, the Grand is a straight final. I would guess that even GB squad athletes would rather win the eight at Worlds, especially since they've probably managed to pick a red box or two somewhere along the way in another event. Good...

Re: HOCR 2025
How many seconds could a good HOCR coxswain make up over a less experienced one? (that is an honest question) It depends. You blow one turn in an eight, it can cost you 5-15 seconds, your coxswain tries to go through someone instead of around them, it will cost you 30-60 seconds in lost time, and a...

Just fyi, this isn't unique https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/alpine, though the terms of that deal are supposedly(edit) $100M over 8 years.
Seems like USRowing is just a cheaper date.

Re: 2028 “Mega” Worlds
Honest question - does GB scoff at it, or do they do what they can to guarantee golds? My understanding is their funding is based on Oly golds (is it medals in general?) if it's just golds, you wouldn't risk doubling athletes and getting 2 silvers over 1 gold so it just makes sense. I wouldn't call...
