Yeah, maybe a bit of NZ getting quicker and the Sinkovics also gaining some speed. Still would not be surprised if they go back to the quad.

Re: World Cup 1
What stood out to me was the GER M4x rowing a very un-German stroke.

Re: World Cup 1
I predict the Sinkovics make their way back into the quad for LA, and it may end up being very close to the 2012 silver medal quad. Damir, I think, will make it. And we see David Sain is in the single, a comeback if there ever was one. Judging from performances, that Croatian M4x is showing the mos...

Re: Windermere Cup 2026
Pretty massive scalp for UW, that GB eight looks like it's either second priority or co-priority with the four, which must largely be the same as the world champion four from last year. I imagine this GB eight will be on the podium the entire season. I wouldn't read too much into the performance of...

Re: Windermere Cup 2026
I presume the Windermere Cup is one of the highlights of UW's season and they will have been preparing for it for weeks. Not sure you'd say the same for the GB crew. UW's big races are, AFAIK, the CAL dual, Windermere, the former PAC 10 (now MPSF) and IRAs. Obviously, the biggest event is IRAs. I t...

Alexander Hill is a savvy vet now. This will be his fourth games if he makes it.
Curious about Canada only sending a M4-, wonder how big the men's team is. I believe Trevor Jones was in a double somewhat recently.

Re: How fast is fast indoors?
2k was the second day But it was the day after a 2x2k on the water in the 2x or 2-, right? The 2k erg time is great in & of itself. 3 2k in 2 days is  Interesting to see van Lierop (Paris gold in the M4x) last in the erg 2k, but fastest in the M2- & fastest compared to CST overall. G...

Strange to have to pay to view (which I didn't), I've gotten used to live streams from Youtube.
Cambridge Goldie looked very good. To my eyes Oxford men are still rowing with Bowden technique, I assume that's intentional.

Re: World Champs
GB M4- looks great. Rob Baker can claim this as another win for Cambridge, the rhythm was basically his. Trapmore coaches roughly the same thing and combined with the bones and most of the body of Grobler's training program, they've found a very effective way to win. I will say though, this is basic...

Re: RPE vs HR, etc
Now that I've a better understanding of training, I really do think some programs are missing out on some easy ways to optimize their training. But hey, I know people like Gladstone and Callahan have decades of success pushing their athletes harder. When you have 50+ athletes you can throw mud at t...

This discussion is an extension of some of the previous chats on this board. Still no consensus. http://rowingillustrated.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=5488 http://rowingillustrated.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=129953#p129953 What we do know is that when athletes are confident in the coach and the progr...

More steady state, higher volume? Seems like that was his influence in France. Their four did get noticeably stronger and got unlucky at the games.

Re: RPE vs HR, etc
Very interesting discussion! Thanks for the nice overview, limegreenspeed. One thing which is "different" in rowing is the duration of training. In cycling, it is rather easy to go out riding for 3 to 6 hours, and keep riding easy. However, in rowing this is very difficult. Typically, row...
