You can transport boats by plane, but it might require a change to your travel budget: :)

Re: Henley

As has been noted, Empacher seems to have dominated the boat selection in the regatta. It seemed that Concept 2 also dominated in the oar selection. I only saw only one crew, the University of Washington women 8+, using Croker blades. I certainly did not see entry crew, but it seemed that C2 was in ...

Re: Proposed changes to Sarasota venue

This plan seems to be horrible for rowing and other water sports. The building will consume a significant part of the island which is already too small to allow for larger events comfortably. The boathouse will have the capacity of 24 boats. This will barely contain the boats that are already at the...

Re: Little River Marine Heritage 15

Adirondack make nice boats, and this one looks very nice. This is a rowboat as opposed to a rowing boat. A rowing boat uses the legs for the vast majority of the force applied. You will be missing almost all the leg usage in this boat. That may or may not be good for you, but it seems something to c...

Re: Little River Marine Heritage 15

The club in which I was once afflicted had a couple of Little River boats. One of them was more than a couple of decades old and was quite solid. The other is a member boat, and he loves it. He once hit a dock at full speed, knocking him off the seat but doing absolutely no damage to the boat. Both ...

Re: Bizarre video of an eight being unloaded to launch in thunderstorm

I think it's a bit unfair to post assumptions, particularly given there is a dock right next to the news station location, at Arabelle Riverwalk, where the launches appear to be heading. I'm also not certain there was a 100% chance of storms in the forecast, this time of year this stuff can pop up ...

Re: Bizarre video of an eight being unloaded to launch in thunderstorm

Here is the video on YouTube for those who cannot see it in the initial link. Below is a map of the river showing the point of the incident as a red dot toward the bottom and the location of the city boathouse at the top with a green dot. The mouth of the river is just a couple hundred metes to the...

Bizarre video of an eight being unloaded to launch in thunderstorm

A local Tampa television station posted this video on their web site and facebook showing a eight being unloaded to a launch during a thunderstorm. This occurred right in front of the television station offices, just 1 kilometer from the city dock where they would have launched. What is most bizarre...

The Rower Turned Engineer Who Helped Make Nvidia a $3 Trillion Company

This moderately interesting article, The Rower Turned Engineer Who Helped Make Nvidia a $3 Trillion Company, has a short profile of Jonah Alben. It relates his experience of being a coxswain at Stanford as being a reason for his success at Nvdia.
