Watched the Maadi Cup race (unrelated, the broadcast was top notch). Loved how they rowed, times were nothing overly special (just under 6) but I don't know conditions.
When was the last time Maadi Cup Champs rolled up? I can't recall any in the YouTube era

Regatta was on the South Island so water would not have been warmFullSend wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 12:50 pmWatched the Maadi Cup race (unrelated, the broadcast was top notch). Loved how they rowed, times were nothing overly special (just under 6) but I don't know conditions.

Re: Henley Royal Regatta
I think the last time a New Zealand crew raced in the PE was 1998. Auckland Grammar School lost in the 1st round to Radley ‘B’ (back in the days when schools could have multiple entries), the verdict was “Easily” (in the slowest time of the day *ouch*)

Re: Henley Royal Regatta
Pre-Henley racing takes place at Dorney this weekend. In the Champ M8 it's likely to be a showdown between Oxford Brookes A & B (the A crew are the same that won the Holland Beker) and Harvard Lightweight IRA champions,

Re: Henley Royal Regatta
It's nice to see any NCAA/IRA championship crew (heavy or light) be able to stay together to race the Marlow/Reading/HRR circuit completely unchanged:

I would be curious if RI nerds can find the last time that happened?

Was Cal complete in 2022? IIRC they were very closecleetus wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 7:23 pm It's nice to see any NCAA/IRA championship crew (heavy or light) be able to stay together to race the Marlow/Reading/HRR circuit completely unchanged:

Re: Henley Royal Regatta
Cal had one sub in 2022. Princeton lights had 3 changes to their IRA 1V in 2023. I'll spot check a few others later today.
Re: Henley Royal Regatta
Cornell lights 2015 would be another to check, they were very very sharp (IMO) which would at least seem to indicate an intact crew.

Very cool, will be interesting to see how they do but if it's that OBUBC crew that beat the Dutch, I am not overly optimistic it will be overly competitivefatsculler wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 12:20 pm Washington sending their IRA winning crew to race The Grand

I’ve heard a rumour that the US Olympic M8 has entered the Grand as well, but we’ll have to wait and see when the entries are releasedFullSend wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 12:40 pmVery cool, will be interesting to see how they do but if it's that OBUBC crew that beat the Dutch, I am not overly optimistic it will be overly competitivefatsculler wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 12:20 pm Washington sending their IRA winning crew to race The Grand

Are they really not going to get bumped up? They are clearly of international standard.
