Forgive me if I missed it, but was Ntouskos, the Greek who won the gold, still a ‘lightweight’ when he raced the 1x? If so is this a first?

He’s under 200lbs but not close to 72.5Kg. Goes between 5:45 and 5:50 on the erg, so huge power to weight.

If you do the numbers and compare proably 5:39 at about 100kg to 5:51 at about 85 kg (i have to guess here)
Then it's not so much difference i terms of power to weight ratio.
The remaining difference could be easily overcome by rowing technique, conditions, proper peaking etc

Also, rowed sooooo well, especially in the rough water.
