Zijie Oars

Post by Andre »

Has anyone ever dealt with this company before or used their products? http://www.zijie-sport.com

I am specifically interested in their sculling oars but am suspect of the quality. They are much cheaper than C2 or Croker.

What is the price for sculling oars? Looks like a C2 blade on their shaft. The price on the website is $1000USD/pair which is much more expensive than C2s.

If you want Chinese oars, I would deal directly with Swift or Wintech. At least that way, you have a representative in North America to reach out to if there are problems. Those are the only two companies that have been able to hold the Chinese feet to the fire to stop making crap. Left to their own subsidized idiocy, the factories will just cut corners. You need an advocate who cares about their reputation here.

I was quoted $360 US/pair for a full ultralite carbon shaft.

To me, it seems as if the 1000 $ is for a pack of 5 pairs.

But even then I'd rather stick with the original brands. They put all the effort in to design and this here is just a rip-off. Don't think rowing is a big enough market to justify that.

A quick look at them on their website looks like they've copied Concept2 for the main product and Croker for alternative handles. Rather support "local" businesses.

You might need five sets of blades to get through a year or so...wink

Just buy some used C2 oars. You can probably get close on pricing and will have better quality even if used. You can also take them to HOCR or any other regatta where there is service from C2 and C2 will fix them.

It's a big assumption that there will be an HOCR this year!
