Fats you forecast 2 USA golds: W4- and Mix8.

USA Mix 8 should be fantastic.

The USA W4- are the class of the field going into worlds but this might be the race of the regatta. GBR outperformed expectations in '25 for most of the final and the way NED came home in that race...they will only get closer this year. AUS finished 2nd at Lucerne and might have another gear. If they keep to the script USA should again open things up in the second 1,000m and the rest are all just racing for silver.

Other chances for USA gold will come in the men's 4-, 8+ and women's 8+. The USA system is working.

You mean the common sense of picking great talent and letting them find chemistry with each other over many years rather than seat racing the big ergs ad nauseam? ;)

does anyone have insight into how much Dutch philosophy has trickled in?

Selection?
Training?
Technique?

At the most basic and from afar (I am not a national team member) all rowers within the system or hoping to get into the system are under the exact same training plan "Josy's plan." I don't recall that ever being the case before, especially for athletes outside the NT but on the high performance pathway.

I would love to know if …..

Particularly amongst the women, whether average ergo score of squad athletes has slowed (in spite of the better results) and what the injury rate is compared with previous eras.

Pure speculation but I suspect Jose’s program is less destructive on the body and more conducive to producing better physiology.

It seems that they have dredged extensively and also sent divers down to check and there shouldn't be any weed problems next week.

It is good to know that others in the world have to deal with this  After this summer, the Bosbaan may be hitting water temperatures close to the Schuylkill - right around 28-29 C which probably helps the growth...
