Where do American builders get their carbon fiber, resins etc?

Wait, so is that why the stock market is committing seppuku?
If only anyone with half a brain could have seen this coming! It’s not really an argument, it’s fact.
Hope none of you were hoping to retire soon. Or buy a non NAFTA (rip) USMCA rowing boat.
Re: Tariffs and Boats
i assume because of the extreme uncertainty that Wall Street was betting would not come to fruition (yes, their "fault")
rather than an actual thought out plan, we have huge tariffs on uninhabited islands, rates based on grade school maths equations using only a small portion of trades & a waffling of "this economic policy is forever and stable - invest & build your factories in the US" to "the first to negotiate will obtain the best results" (ie this is all a bluff & will constantly change)
its like manufacturing quicksand.
What happened to Foxconn's $10 billion manufacturing plant in Wisconsin?
Trump & Walker's big achievement, $3 billion in subsidies....

Re: Tariffs and Boats
If the proposal had made sense, I think other nations would trust the US and be willing to do business. But at this point, they could sell their kidneys to negotiate the removal of tariffs -- but then what? This administration is capricious enough to renege on that deal. And when the national security staff roster is able to be swayed by social media influencers, who knows what might actually happen to newly-inked trade deals. It's not even worth the paper it's printed on if someone on social media decides to go viral with a rant about the new trade deals with various nations. Economies are built on trust and rule of law. In the realm of international trade, neither are present any more. The US can't even be trusted to not shoot itself in the foot trying to gain leverage over the world.

As of today, you’re seeing singles from Europe going for over $20k, pair /doubles pushing close to $40k, quads and fours over $60k, and eights climbing past $90k.
No clue where China pricing is heading — it seems to escalate every few days.
Right now, Canadian and American manufacturers aren’t facing any tariffs, but that’s likely to change soon as supply chain issues start hitting — prices will definitely feel the impact.
Even spare parts are doubling in price.

Re: Tariffs and Boats
Will prices revert, and if so, when? Will we see clubs/teams buying boats asap? Will they be delivered within 90 days before tariffs potentially return?
Re: Tariffs and Boats
With this degree and speed of flip flopping?
And the 180 degree mixed messaging coming from the White House? ("This is forever, build factories" vs "This is only to drive negotiations.")
I think US prices will stay high to cushion against the next whim of the White House & shipments/availability will probably wax and wane based starting/stopping shipments based on the flip flopping (ie VW & others halted all shipments to US because of the tariffs, now will take time to start up again)

I think you better check your math and/or speak with either Alex or I about costs of boats from Europe. Yes, prices have gone up from what "Fearless Leader" (checking people's Cartoon Knowledge) has done, or not done. Or done... or not done. But what you are stating/saying about boat prices from Europe is not accurate.
I recognize that you are trying to create a "buzz", which I have to keep in check.
Regardless, Trumps antics are doing a lot to mess with people's heads, and in the short term, the majority of small and mid sized businesses (which ALL of us (rowing)) are, are being negatively affected. I would expect, I can't confirm, that even the domestic builders, get some of their products from overseas or boarders, which will increase their costs as well.

Good morning Fred
No need to check the math. The numbers that were published and then distributed were on point.
I sent you an email.
It’s a tough situation for all, domestic and foreign.

Go USA… what a trainwreck, mates.
Re: Tariffs and Boats
Spoke with our Canadian friends who say that tariffs will not affect their prices. I don't get any of this, or how they are immune.

Re: Tariffs and Boats
All manufacturers have been affected and have adjusted accordingly.
It appears that Chinese manufacturers will experience relief in the future, although the extent of this relief remains uncertain.

Re: Tariffs and Boats
Relief for the manufacturers is one thing. But the dealers here in the US are typically separate entities. There's no help coming for them. With 30% tariffs can your prices be low enough to generate volume sales?
Re: Tariffs and Boats
The rumor is WinTech/King would like to build the king 8 in America, in Vermont, which I don’t know how that changes anything. The price or even the quality
