Olympics M1x

Post by Steven M-M »

Forgive me if I missed it, but was Ntouskos, the Greek who won the gold, still a ‘lightweight’ when he raced the 1x? If so is this a first?

He’s under 200lbs but not close to 72.5Kg. Goes between 5:45 and 5:50 on the erg, so huge power to weight.

Shades of shady stuff maybe. Legal... Illegal who cares?

Exciting to watch? Absolutely and he has no problems with conditions. Unlike Ollie.

If you do the numbers and compare proably 5:39 at about 100kg to 5:51 at about 85 kg (i have to guess here)
Then it's not so much difference i terms of power to weight ratio.
The remaining difference could be easily overcome by rowing technique, conditions, proper peaking etc
