Re: World Champs

It seems that the weed was quite a big problem at the Holland Beker a week ago. Hope they get it sorted out for the Worlds. The furnace-like weather in Europe recently won't have helped. https://hollandbeker.nl/important-notice-weed-in-the-regatta-course/ It seems that they have dredged extensively...

Re: European Rowing Championships

This has to be the worst coverage of any FISA senior event I have seen... almost impossible to find footage of any race. ? https://worldrowing.com/event/2026-european-rowing-championships/?tab=race-video-on-demand Just a reminder that despite being hosted on the WR page it was not a FISA event.

I'm sure Fats has done this already but you can look up individual events on the World Rowing website, e.g. https://worldrowing.com/event/2010-unde ... nd-results

Re: U23 Worlds

I can live with mixed rowing. But rejigging the program to make them the last events does not sit well with coaches or athletes. The last day of the regatta used to be finals day, the peak of the event. Almost all the B and A finals were rowed that day. Now the last day is for social rowing. Some a...

Re: U23 Worlds

Looks to have been a good championship in Duisburg. GB won their 7th consecutive BM8 title, the USA had their best result since 2018 (4 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze). John West working wonders with the Portuguese team returning 3 golds (BM1X, BM2X & BLM1X) and Greece toping the medal table with 4 ...

Re: World Cup 3 - Lucerne

Have the regatta boatyard requirements expanded significantly since the last time Lucerne hosted a WRCH? (I guess that was in 2001...) Yes para events and about 50 more members of FISA. In 2001 there were no QFs for M1x. This weekend no event had more than 13 entries and space was quite limited. Ma...

Re: World Cup 3 - Lucerne

Slightly tangential post but having just come back from the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Lucerne. I have no idea where they're going to put all the boats for next year's World Champs.

Who are you referring to?
Mike Smith - former Executive Director of World Rowing
He always appeared as (HKG) in FISA literature.

Re: Long Beach 2028 Olympics

"Initial lanes will be assigned via a computer generated random draw." Who runs the computer? Because you can keep generating random draws until you get the draw you want. They should make it public like the Town Hall drawing at Henley. Make for a good watch party. It is public, all champ...

Re: GBR lightweights

good news ! Why stop at the single ? Small steps... But why indeed. What logic could there be for allowing a light 1x but not the light 2x? I still think your country's governing body should not be able to stop an entry if they aren't going to enter a boat themselves. Because only an entry from a n...

GBR lightweights

This is something I had raised with Tom Solesbury, and I imagine I wasn't the only one, and is absolutely great news

Well, that excludes Lake Natoma...!
Which requirements does Lake Natoma fail?
