Re: Coaching Carousel 2026
OU has the same problem 'Bama does. Most people in rowing come from the coasts. Living in Tuscaloosa or OK CIty doesn't interest them, despite the great atmospheres for sports and the excellent support for the programs. Same for recruits -many would rather spend 4 years (maybe 5) in Orlando, Charlo...

Re: World Cup 1
I felt like WC1 used to be the empty one and WC2 was the full one, not sure what changed unless it's just a dates thing?

Re: World Cup 1
The UW men’s eight is likely faster than the winner of World Cup 1. No, they’re not Faster as of June 1st 2026? I can buy it - UW men are at their absolute peak. I imagine most of the WC1 athletes are training very hard and don't peak for another 2.5 months. Are they faster peak form against peak f...

Re: Spring 2026 Season
Also, you can't complain about the arms race for the best U23 rowers on the planet and then be surprised when the times are world class. Obviously these times are insane, but it feels like if this were UW men there wouldn't be as much pushback. WBTs are more "fun" than anything and there ...

Re: Fall 2025/Spring 26
I had stream issues all weekend, even on hardwired fiber internet. Graphics package was basically non existent. I don't necessarily hold up the NCAAs stream as the end all be all, but had 500m split times on screen, put lineup graphics up, and was free. Of note - the limited conversations I have bee...

Re: Canada And Filippi Part Ways
Nothing official, just from talking to people that talk to people - but I had heard they were frustrated with the equipment and how finicky it could be. Hudson runs in the blood of a lot of people there, I would suspect that is a factor

Re: Spring 2026 Season
What I heard was UT and Michigan did 5x5min with no times taken. I am befuddled why it was on their schedules just to do that. My guess is water time differential got Michigan worried about taking an "official" beating to a top program? I have no info on that end.

Re: Reshaping Athletics
Wrap your head around some of these Not sure it’s real I have a feeling something is off with this infographic. March Madness itself drives over $1 billion in broadcast rights revenue every year. I don’t see how football profits = 1/2 broadcast rights revenue ($1.9 billion profit / $4 billion broad...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2025
I think in a lot of these cases, the AD is looking for an excuse to get rid of a coach and suddenly starts "listening" to athlete complaints. I have no info if that's the case here or not, but I don't think in every case it's the AD going "we must listen to the athletes and my hands a...

Re: Youth Nationals 2026 / 2027
So with roster caps coming in, could a school that historically runs a large walk on program (let's say Washington) "direct" freshman walk-ons to a 3rd party club, and have then race Youths as u20 as long as they aren't on any official UW roster? what is the point when the roster is alrea...

Re: Youth Nationals 2026 / 2027
Personally, I don't think the rule for HRR/Nat Schools is all that hard, you can't have turned 19 before the end of the regatta, you have to be enrolled in secondary school. I don't think the current Youth's rule differs from that too much, but USRowing said something along the lines of it's too har...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Both YouTube and The Ringer collect metadata. Say what you will , Overnght is going to be a game-changer for winter my training / erging, with every race outside of HRR online and ready to go. I’ll pass the info along. 1) My point is I don't have a Ringer login, I have 1 login for my podcast app an...
