Re: Are C2 Comps Out?
Hard to say, but IIRC most of Kleshnev's testing with different blades shows "efficiency" (however he determines it) is better with the fat2smoothie or the vortex-edged blades but "boat speed" is better with straight edge smoothie blades. I'm not going to dive into the archives ...

Which Paris 2024 US scullers boat was this?
Just curious really - at the weekend I raced at the silver skiffs and had hired a boat from filippi for an 85kg sculler, I was expecting an F22, F01, F14 but was surprised to get an F47 cut down to 85kg - it was a 2024 boat and had Paris 2024 stickers so was curious who’s it was - Plihal or Kohler, ...

Re: New Croker Blade
I have a pair and these are the best sculls I have EVER rowed with. Zero doubt. You will absolutely see them in Paris, unlike the Comps which will probably disappear. Hearing the sweep blades are even better. Look for some single scullers turning up with them, some are testing right now. What is it...

Re: Rigging 1x to get 70 degree catch, 40 degree finish
Perhaps you could increase the catch angle by getting some additional forward body angle / rockover. Stretching and yoga can help with that. From a rigging perspective, so might raising the seat, adding a butt pad, lowering the shoes, and/or having a shallower footplate angle. Maybe you are not sli...

Re: Rigging 1x to get 70 degree catch, 40 degree finish
Fairly upright style, in an Aylings/lola - 1m85 with long legs and an arm span of over 190. Due to the technique (where I am often told I should be using more back than I am) I doubt an excessive layback is the cause. Agree moving the rigger to the bow would probably be ideal, one niggle is the rigg...

Re: Heart Rate Arm Bands
I find using the Polar OH1 with the “goggles clip” attached to a cap (or even tucked under the cap) so it’s in contact with the temple results in perfect heart rates without needing a chest or arm band in a pinch even my Garmin 255 with the strap removed and similarly tucked under the cap band or un...

Rigging 1x to get 70 degree catch, 40 degree finish
Thought I’d post this here as I’ve been working with my empower oarlock to see if there’s any more optimisation to come from rigging. Reading around and listening to super users of the empower as well as NK the general advice in a 1x is to try and get 70 degrees at the catch and 40 degrees at the fi...

Re: Apple Watch for heart rate?
Another great place for an optical HR monitor is against the temple - I usually use a Polar OH1 under a headband or cap and its perfect, 100% accuracy (although you have to resist the urge to take your hat off!) A Polar watch or apple watch would similarly work in a squeeze but again, worries would ...

Re: New C2 Blade
Watching the Olympic finals again, I may be wrong but I think the women’s bronze medalist lobnig was using the comp blade
And interestingly it looks like the m1x gold medalist from Greece was using fat2’s!

Re: Thoughts on "New" Pocock XVIII?
The pocock x8 is nice and solved the “it doesn’t look cool” problem that the old comp 8s had. It’s stiff, so can take some time for crews to adapt - especially if they’re used to a floppier Kevlar boat like an empacher. Good adjustability, athletes are comfortable sitting in it. Fast crews go fast ...

Odd, ok I’ll try again - I had emailed the info@Oartec email in October and again in December but with no responselt.wolf wrote:Should be, Matt was very responsive sent me some spare parts last year
Re: Fat2
With the short rigg, I reckon Fat2s are more suited to a steeper angle to the blade at the catch in the water than Croker arrows. That's one reason I was more comfortable and faster. The other is; that I'm a guy that loves a big powerful finish. The Crokers feel more direct at the catch, but tend t...
Re: Fat2
Kleshnev's most recent newsletter is a comparison between Fat2, Comp, and Smoothie2 with a single subject sculler. Single sujbect, multiple trials isn't really a good way to assess this - maybe 10 or 15 subjects doing similar sessions with measurements taken wouuld be better but: The data cited sho...

Oartec still trading?
Just curious, I’ve emailed Oartec US a couple of times to ask about the DX but haven’t had a reply - are they still trading?
