Temple Cup….87 entries to be reduced to 32 by qualifying race. Any info on why so many entries ? Pricey trip for US crews that don’t qualify. Might change the thinking of US crews in future years.

Wisconsin over Columbia is suspect after Sunday results. The remainder of the listing looks pretty solid to me.

Hmmm. Princeton at #3. Not too much room for moving up.

From a curmudgeon who has been around Rowing for 60 years, AD’s want as little as possible to do with Rowing. When they are forced to react when athletes show up at their office door, that coach will not have his/ her contract renewed. Watched this play out numerous times.

Here’s another slant on International recruits. Many US collegiate programs have benefited greatly from the success and gratitude of graduates. Not much info on how much international grads have donated to their respective programs.

SJU shares a boat house with Saint Joseph’s Prep. Newest boat house in Philly. Should the program fold, will be interesting to see what happens. Might be a reason to keep a club program in place.

The unintended consequence….Has anyone considered what the elimination of lightweight rowing will do to the pool of rowing coaches ? Take a quick look around US college and scholastic programs and who the coaches are.

Informed today that the Secretary of the Navy can authorize 60 international midshipmen. Maybe a few will be oarsmen.

My prediction is that we will learn a lot in the next few years about Admissions at the US Naval Academy.

Noticed during the IRA and now at HRR that announcers are amused by various shell rigs, but don’t seem to understand that simple Italian and German rigs help boats even out the moment arms and go straight. It’s physics.
