HRR 2023
Re: HRR 2023
A few of us don’t understand why the commentary crew is sleeping on Syracuse.

Re: HRR 2023
Majority 2V, B final, don't often race at henley. Not hard to imagine why the focus is elsewhere in the event. Then again, don't know how christ church and wolfson got the nod.
Re: HRR 2023
Why is Princeton's 1v not in the Ladies?

Re: HRR 2023
Isn't the heavy 1V (or most of it) in the Ladies too?
Re: HRR 2023
No I didn't see any US crews in the entry list

Princeton lineups.

Turns out the temple "A" crew is a mix of the lwt 1/2v. Not sure why the dutch combo from the 1V entered the double instead. Preparing for U23 again this year?

Re: HRR 2023
I'd imagine if your squad contains top international U23s, your coach may well see value in letting them join their NT groups over the summer and just doing Henley with the remnants. They will still be pretty quick and it gives the rest of the squad a chance to bond and have some fun.socalstroke wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 6:27 pm Princeton lineups.

Re: HRR 2023
I was mixing up with the Visitors entry that has 2 1V and 2 2V, obviously no Ladies. Tough to keep all the Pton entries straight when they are racing something like 43 athletes total in the program (men and women)
Re: HRR 2023
My feeling is that loosening the Temple rules was/is a mistake. 3 guys from Washington's Varsity sitting in their Temple boat...
Yes, I know everyone can do it, but doesn't it reduce entries in the ladies? I believe that the Temple should be JV/3v stuff. Your 3 varsity guys could grab a good 4th and race the visitors

Re: HRR 2023
Overall, I agree I liked the old standards better and now the Ladies is a bit of a no mans land (though a decent entry count again).Sarge wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 4:13 pm My feeling is that loosening the Temple rules was/is a mistake. 3 guys from Washington's Varsity sitting in their Temple boat...

To be fair, that's what they did what you said last year and won the Visitors'. I'm guessing they wanted to bring more along for the ride and build into next year.
OBU top Temple 8 is now similar speed to a lot of IRA 1Vs so unless you're going to somehow legislate that out I don't know what you do to avoid just OBU running the event in perpetuity.
Side note, I'm still confused on the Dutch student clubs. My understanding is they are clubs made up of students from different universities in the area. How is that Temple eligible other than being grandfathered in? Old heads in the Thames didn't like getting smacked around by 20 year olds?
