Rowing moving to 1500m?

Post by fearlesselite »

2028 olympics will be a 1500m race course

How does this impact college rowing? Training for a 2k is going to be different than 1500

So far FISA seems to be saying no change for any race length except @ the LA games.

Doubling+ the race time (or halving) makes a bing difference, FISA is in between that.

The big question is still whether qualifying races will be held over 2000 or 1500 meters.

If it is not 1500, then the Olympic A finals will still be populated (especially at the top end) with the top 2k boats.
Probably some great upsets through the reps, etc, but i wouldn't expect dramatic change in the medals.
I did ask the question whether Worlds and World Cups will be shortened to 1500 and was met with a resounding “no”. It remains to be seen if the Continental and Final Olympic Qualifying regattas are raced over 1500 or 2K.
