Onward and upward.
There is speculation that Bruce Smith was the leading candidate by the hiring committee but there was protest out of several board members.

On paper, sounds like a good choice, with experience in rowing and sports marketing in bigger sports. Best of luck to him!
Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
Agreed. This appears to be a pretty good hire. Hopefully he can easily make the transition from business back to the non-profit world.
Best of luck

I hope he is successful. I was a bit disappointed in his row2k interview that he didn't hit on a couple of quick fixes or at least a few priorities that he was looking forward to leading with. Going on a listening tour of the constituency just feels a little....politic.
But I am hopeful.

Don't be to sure you are out of the woods yet, this is the same chap who was full of blunders when he was the point of contact for the US National Team. Example, a WUG 4- was disqualified after traveling all the way to Germany because he failed to file correct paperwork for one of rowers meds.
Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
An excellent hire. The WUG error was in the 80's or 90's - that was a long time ago.
If Pat cannot rebuild it, I suspect no one will be able to.

Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
I agree, things done 20 plus years ago are in the past. It is time to move forward.
Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
All I remember was that 3 teams were overseas for weeks in 1992 and moved camps several times (2 week intervals: perfect timing). Absolutely flawless logistics. I think he will do great and has the background to get more eyeballs on our sport. Ok so McNerny was a complete and utter financial fail for USRowing.
Who is next?
While a lot of folks don't like him, I'd go with Casey Galvenek and just move everything to Sarasota.

Ellen Minzner should be the next CEO of USRowing.
Prove me wrong.

Ellen would be great.
Bet USRowing wishes they went with Bruce Smith last time, he probably has no regrets though.
I think it’s gonna be Amanda Kraus from Row NY.

Minzner checks a lot more boxes on the wish list, particularly national team experience.

Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
I want my high performance officers to have NT experience. Right now the CEO needs financial turnaround experience and experience in the club rowing scene so as to understand what levers are available to USRowing.
Re: Who should be USRowing's new CEO?
Get ready for the announcement this week. I can see the position being filled out of NY
Lots of work ahead
Pretty sure Casey enjoys coaching
