I like the idea thrown out in the other thread: a fundraiser/ambassador/liaison to coaches and HPC as the CEO or President, and then a COO who can run a tight ship with budgets, regattas, etc. The job seems to diverse for any single skill set that's likely to apply. So... names:

President/CEO role:
Gladstone
Vogel?
Anita DeFrantz

COO
Bruce Smith
Brett Johnson
Poach someone from GB?

I kinda like this idea a bit. But I think the CEO has to focus on the sport at large, not just HPC/NT stuff. So I would vote no for Gladstone. On that. I also dislike his character, given the multiple accounts of him leaving his crews at race courses because he didn't like the results.

COO- Greg Hartsuff. I believe his wife is at Penn State, he would be much closer to her that way. Figure out how to do a lot with a little and continue to try and push to the highest level.

Gladstone wouldn't take the job. Find an accomplished rowing-related person with a track record of business success.

If I were on the Board I would be reaching out to Misha Joukowsky. Fifteen years ago I would have said Dave Grant from OCC. Looking outside the US I would hire Mike Sweeney.

Guys like this absolutely love and live the sport, know how to build organizations, draw in others, and are incredible ambassadors for the sport where ever they go.

I'd go for Sir David Tanner. Or Donald Trump...

The rumblings and rumors have Bruce Smith filling the role. I am not 100 percent certain.

As in Garrett Klugh? That'd be a solid choice in my opinion. I had no idea he had interest there or was under consideration.

Dear God, a couple of those names would be disasters, just asked people who coached or rowed with them.
