Very sad to hear of the death of Durham Amateur Rowing club coach, Bill Grant. My condolences to all his friends and family and all those at Durham Amateur Rowing Club.

This sport seems hard enough without being dangerous. Two UK coaches gone this season. And they still haven't found that Thames fellow, right?

A poster on RSR has said that he may have been taken ill on the bank and went into the river as a result. Still very hard for family and friends, of course.

"Bill, from Sunderland, is believed to have suffered a medical incident while coaching a crew from the river bank on Saturday morning. Despite the best efforts of several rowers and passers-by to save him, Bill died shortly after being air-lifted to hospital."
