Top end LWT recruits

Top end LWT recruits

Postby Lwtbeast on Mon May 30, 2011 9:17 pm

I am now down to 6:31 at 156 lbs. I'm finishing up my Junior year in high school, and I'm wondering if my time would put me at the top end nationally for rising Lightweight seniors in High School. What times usually put a recruit in the "highest caliber" status? What is an ideal time going into my senior fall that coaches would like to see?

Any info would be appreciated. Even current and past rowers stating their times from when they were a rising lwt senior and where they went!

Peace y'all

I would certainly call a 6:31 "highest caliber". Doing it at 156 lbs makes it even more attractive to a coach.

Focus very hard on SAT/ACT and grades. You are already exactly where you want to be for any EARC lightweight school physiologically. Don't go chasing any more ergs or standards. Assuming you want to go to a top tier academic institution like an Ivy, you have the numbers for any coach to want to recruit you. The deciding factor will be your academic stats, guaranteed.

I heard the very low baseline for SAT's is 600 or better in all sections at the ivies. I am over 600 in every section, but not by much. Should I fret?

I am a senior this year and I got recruited for lightweight. I went 6:29 as a junior and this year I went 6:22. Your up there with high caliber, especially because your lighter, I weigh about 165 so you pulling pretty hard for your size, if you can keep your weight under 160 and go mid 6:20's through your senior year you will be wanted no doubt

I am a Heavy so recruitment times are different but im not sure what those other guys are talking about for SATs. I had plenty of interest from ivies with an 1890 on the SAT. im going to an invy with that score next year and had top interest from Harvard as well. Try to get into the 1900s but a strong GPA coupled with a high 1800 is fine.

Is "top interest" a likely letter?
