Have to agree with Wolf on this one. We bought the first 3 Quantums made and have since bought more. I can see us continuing to buy the ones that come up now and then. They are great boats. Our rowers love them for being a comfortable boat, smooth through the water, and as Wolf said, well made with great parts. Greame is a pretty cool guy. I hope he does return to making the eights. I remember the first time we raced St. Paul's and thinking they were crazy for rowing "those wooden boats".... wish I had never thought that out loud. Those old wooden boats put a beating on us 1v through 4v. Those triple fins did look weird though.

I already owe Lt. Wolf a case of Oly, but I'll trade you either a case of Ranier or Oly for a case of either Yuengling or Natty Boh.

Just because I've never had either, really.

Just so we are all clear, lets remember that King had NOTHING to do with the Quantum boats. He never set foot in the shop. Actually, ask any of the old Quantum guys, and they will tell you that working with King was impossible, and he was not allowed in the shop. Al King did was put his name on the boat. The shape wasnt really even that of a King. And as a side note, while the triple-fins looked kind of cool, they were really silly. If the boat actually were to roll, those fins would keep the boat heeled over!!

Wintech purchased the quantum molds

Hired Graeme as lead engineer

Will offer a “Quantum” level boat. Ie (competitor, international, medalist, quantum)

Possible offers

Open foot well design

Adidas shoes

Different seats and wheels (for some reason I am not sure if I actually heard this or wanted to hear this)

Wing rigger via cut down gunwale

High modulus carbon

All for about 32k

thank you my guy in the lower half of Amercia for the information

That may be. The timeline and detours after Quantum folded and in between these two highlights might require a bit more detail however.....

But where would our sport be without intrigue?

Whatever partnership and hull design King and WinTech offer, it won't be the Quantum molds, those were cut up and put in a dumpster.

But yea....that's where the story diverges among the tellers. Some say the molds were not destroyed.

I don't know for sure either way and given Graeme's talents, I am not sure it matters whether those molds survived or these new boats will be different.

I just know the path to "partnership" is more interesting than we may ever be told.

I heard that Wintech hired some of the Quantum staff when they closed up shop. Now I have heard that the moulds have been shipped to china.

I would assume that someone had the disk with the mould formula and machining plot points when they closed, or did they throw that info away also. Physical moulds or not, if they have the data, they "have" the moulds.

Now they just need to upgrade to german or swiss hardware.

I heard that the Canadian National team is rowing the King moulds with baby saplings for oars. I also heard the moulds roam the Charles rowing themselves and can be seen only on clear, cold full-moon nights...

Whatever happened to the original moulds, I am glad to see that hull coming back. Since Wintech split the engineering/engineers with Resolute (correct me if I'm wrong), will that mean the same construction process?

The real question I have: will they use the same tough-as-nails metallic fleck silver that the Quantums had, or will they try a new color?

I believe that the US Government had a role in the mould destruction. After all, no organization of individuals would have the logistical capability to destroy them alone - ONLY a large government power, bent on creating a New World Order, could have done it.

I just saw a banner ad for Quantum Racing on Row2k. Says they will arrive Fall 2010. No mention of Wintech or a link to another web site.

I think Wintech is a supporter of row2k so having a banner ad is a good way to start flashing the news a bit.

Interesting there is no mention of the "revival" on the Wintech site, one would think that would be news they would want out there quickly in time for boat orders for Spring and Summer .

I checked the properties of the banner ad and the GIF filename references Wintech.
