Back in the early 2000's, USRowing apparently had no problem with Tom Terhaar selecting his own wife to the W8+ - a boat he was directly responsible for selecting, and isn't even open for challenge at trials.

Making assumptions on what really happened in OKC... how is the Parker/Ursula situation different? Is it really that this relationship is taboo, while the other is not? I'm sure there was some sort of "conduct unbecoming" clause in Parker's contract - was that really the difference here? If Parker & Ursula had been single would USRowing still have had a problem with the situation?

As organizations evolve and see the issues and lawsuits fielded by other similar organizations they adopt policies to protect the interests and values of its employees, stakeholders. What may have been acceptable ten years ago in many instances is not today. Lessons are learned.

The simple rule in industry is that you cannot have a relationship, married or single, with someone over whom you control selection, promotion or salary. If the situation arises, one of the pair must go somewhere else.
The moral issues are irrelevant. Only the perceived inability to make rational unbiased decisions is relevant.
One of the pair has gone. The situation was resolved before any dubious decisions were made. That should be the end of public interest. The individuals should be allowed get on with their lives.

The video provides a few new details about Ursula I wasn't aware of. She gives a nice shout out to Carlos too.

Where is Abby now? "Retired again?"

We are still amused by JP.

Abby is registered for the Charles in the lt 1x and Ursula obvi is the Bled light 1x and also registered for the Charles in the Champ 1x...so, I would presume both are training towards London as are about 5-7 other lightweight women ..nothing like a push from the inside to make everyone faster! I would hope that the light gals would work together to find the fastest combo for London......Ursula needs to spend time in the 1x...she has so much power...now clean up the stroke, clean up the start...
