Also David Hutzley at Christian Brothers is a 6'6" senior and pulled 6:14.2 at 2015 CRASH-Bs as a 16 year old.
Digby (17yo) raced at the British Indoors today and won in a time of 6:02. He also has the U19 world 5K record of 15:54 and a junior world silver medal to his name. I would imagine he'll be the top overseas athlete of most colleges recruiting list. I would prefer him to stay in the UK though and row for someone like Brookes (or even Oxbridge).
If Digby has GBR aspirations his choice seems clear, unless he ends up being the first to transition from an American university to the senior squad, eh?

Anyone know anything about Aussie Charles Lambert? Posted a 5:48.3 (unverified) as an 18-year-old on the C2 rankings. Supposedly rowed Dec. 9. No club affiliation listed and nothing about him on the web. Color me skeptical.

Ha, nice find. Geelong Grammar looks like. But given he's listed as a cox, I'm even more skeptical!

If an 18yo went 5:48, You would have heard of him before now.

I see "record" times on c2log quite often, its best to ignore them unless verified

If that's accurate, one of my crews raced them him a couple weeks ago. Unless he's put on his bodyweight again and Lance'd up his training regimen again, Geelong will not be winning many races with him in six

Why would he?

1. He gets ridiculous facilities and support both financial and coaching physio etc.
2. The Universities are much more exciting places with multi sport teams and campuses that are fantastic
3. His English accent gets him twice the tail of anywhere he would go in the UK
4. The weather even on the East Coast is much much better
5. In the right program he will beat the Brooks varsity eight as a Freshman in the US
6. He wont have to trial for U23 GB he will just get in
7. He can do an MBA at Oxford later and then he only needs to do one or two Boat Races because who really wants to do more.

Impressive. That said, probably need to add this Leonardo Calabrese fellow to the discussion of top international recruits. UW seems to like the Italianos. Digby seems like he could be within striking distance of the 6K WR as well (19:00.6, Hurkmans, 2016).

Christian Tabash and Joe Johnson, both of Gonzaga, went 6:03.6 and 6:07.2 (respectively) at the Mid - Atlantic Erg Sprints this past weekend.
