Re: Lucerne World Cup
Not aware of issues, but bow mounted c-cup riggers are more challenging to rig. In addition to the c-cup wiggling around, the actual "C" cannot be too big, which means the ability for height adjustment is lower. If you have a very tall athlete and want more range, you need to add the shims...

Re: US Squad and Racing
U19/23 trials the first event for USRowing to utilize the time standards to cut boats? It doesn't look like the time standards were used for NSR's and World Cup II. Looks like they lowered the time standard for the day and four boats didn't make it - U19 M2x (92.2%) - U19 W4- (92.9%) -> uncontested ...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Some notable changes from selected boats last year: - Justin Best missing. In the top sweep crew last year, doesn’t seem to be out for injury? - lm2x, different crew selected out of a camp system. Have to have optimism that it will be faster than last year’s, but if heese/Liu are petitioning does th...

Re: Time to Bring the Men's Squad Back East
I wouldn't go giving anyone "two cycles minimum" though. Eight years to find out if you have the right person implementing the right plan? Life is too short. The point I am making is that it takes 8 years to have enough data to really know if what Josy is doing works or doesn't work in te...

Re: Time to Bring the Men's Squad Back East
4th place in a field of 7. USA finished a second ahead of Netherlands...and 10 ahead of Australia (a boat full of guys who had already won their golds in the 4s) and Romania which didn't make the final. Honestly, there are probably 50 coaches in this country who could have got at least the same res...

Re: US Squad and Racing
https://www.rowingnews.com/2022/10/18/anatomy-of-failure/ Learned a lot from this article If one wants to support the national team right now, what is the best way to do it? Clearly not through donating to USRowing, they won't be getting another penny. Should you donate to the clubs directly, or to ...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Right now the V8 is the big prize, but small boats provides a way for programs to build up and gain speed slowly. There are a handful of schools that can claim to be legitimate contenders in the V8, and then everyone else is racing for a scraps. Not everyone can recruit 14 kids a year from around th...

Any good feedback out there on these new empacher 8+’s with the snub bow?
Is empacher going to phase out the old shapes?

Re: Henley 2022
USRowing / Josy should push the idea to the IRA coaches. It will help with success for US team and potentially broaden reach of sport. A program that matches the Olympic program of events would be a boon for the US team. Develops more athletes of capability to jump into sculling and small boats. Lik...

Re: US Squad and Racing
There are no national team coaches The are coaches of camps now, good Coaches for camps This part I’m a bit hung up on. It’s gonna be a really hardscrabble life for the coaches. It’s already this way - they make no money. I think it’s gonna be hard to attract the best talent coaching-wise without s...

Re: US Squad and Racing
I'm troubled that this was the proposed business model in the first place. It's a recipe for revolution, or more relevant here, nonparticipation. What's a business model that has worked? Curious if TRC's for profit paddle boarding, kayaking rental business can keep their HPP afloat. I think separat...
