Re: Rowing benefactor Sean Colgan explains why he no longer supports US ROWING
I am no Colgan supporter, but does this news belong here? One would assume it is best served as its own thread or the "banned list" thread. A 16 month long investigation confirming a major figure in US Rowings history certainly deserves its own conversation outside of dragging Colgan. Nash...

Re: European Championships
Rowing Ireland have confirmed that Paul O’Donovan will race the M1X and not the LM2X for “medical reasons”….now whether that’s because Fintan McCarthy is injured or Paul O’D couldn’t make weight at this point in the season is unclear. It’s going to be fun watching him go up against the heavies.IMG_...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Under the current system athletes get to choose where they want to row and who they want to row for, and right now there are more men on the USNT who have chosen to row for Mike at CRC than the rest of the team combined. Over half the roster chooses to set up camp in Oakland. They can go to Princet...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Sounds like you guys are finally waking up to what I've been saying for years. USRowing has blackballed Teti. Which is teti's fault. There is not a single cycle where athletes have not criticized/complained. And when it becomes public, instead of denying those complaints, the response from other at...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Rowingnews or Row2k maybe should give Teti a media pass and a camera to put around his neck.... It will be embarrasing when athletes give a CRC coach the order of IKKOS medal and there has to be some publicity around that.... If you stand real still you can almost hear Josy scrambling through his p...

Re: US Squad and Racing
From a numbers perspective, the USA has six coaching credentials for the Olympics. Not every boat will have their own coach. Boats less likely to medal will probably share a coach. Curious which person on the USR payroll asked you to share this on their behalf? My guess is it is the same person who...

Re: US Squad and Racing
I think it's a very tough balance between explaining to a new audience vs catering to your core. I have friends who played D1 football and they think pretty much all commentary you see on TV is overly simple and reductive as well. The tone of the commentary a lot of times is a producer/director cho...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Rowing announcers have to stop talking like educators. Would anyone watch basketball if the announcers spent half their time explaining dribbling? Anyone bothering to tune in already interested enough to not have to be won over or educated. Call the race. Who's moving, who's rowing well, who's in t...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Super weird that the HC of a Sprints program would take off and miss an actual race to compete in a 2- trial they have no business in.

Re: US Squad and Racing
If the 2- is the next priority and they lose to the 10th best 2- (after 8 selection), then the 2- selection never really mattered in the first place. You assume there are not a couple of players who disagree with HPD selection of the 2- and decide to take their shot at an Olympic event already qual...

Re: US Squad and Racing
The only priority that makes sense is to prioritize the boats that are already qualified. That is the 4- and the 2-. (I'm only talking about the men's sweep squad here). You select these two boats and then you select the eight. You don't select an unqualified boat before knowing who is in the quali...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Not just guys in singles. How about all the guys trialing in the pair and doubles? The old saying goes United we stand, divided we fall. We've been constantly dividing the talent on the men's side. I thought USRowing had found wisdom by not making the men's eight a trials event so that they could p...

Re: How fast is fast indoors?
Good job. Not taking away. But C2 static is the standard until it is not. Everything is else deserves an attaboy until the standard officially changes. Just like sliders I have heard stories of 10, 12, and 15 seconds on the RP3. Good erg score. Nice work. Attaboy.* * You did not "smash" th...

Re: US Squad and Racing
Reports in 2023 were that Molly was consistently better than Mary but Mary was selected based on one switch.
My guess is that Sophia leap frogged Mary to become the spare. Where Mary ends up after that is anybody's guess.

Re: US Squad and Racing
Sounds like LW2x selection is done. To nobodies surprise it is Michelle and Molly. With a huge shout out to Sophia Luwis making it as the alternate.
