Re: Coaching Carousel 2023

Kelsie Chaudoin is one obvious choice as the associate head coach on staff if UVA wants to stay in-house for the hire. It makes sense, the recruiting will remain stable, and the staff stays together. But is that a good thing? I know none of these people but often after such an illustrious career, t...

Re: Rowing benefactor Sean Colgan explains why he no longer supports US ROWING

Looks like an expensive report. Who paid for it? Seems the money would be better spent on coaching programs designed to get more women in coaching roles, especially head coaching positions or funding women’s rowing programs or the women’s national team. The law firm offered its services pro-bono. T...

Re: US Squad and Racing

Sounds like you guys are finally waking up to what I've been saying for years. USRowing has blackballed Teti. Which is teti's fault. There is not a single cycle where athletes have not criticized/complained. And when it becomes public, instead of denying those complaints, the response from other at...

Nelo riggers have foam cores. Nelos also have inverted carbon tracks and glued stretcher rails.

Re: US Squad and Racing

I watched the replay a few times again. It looks like he was caught by surprise at the start and wasn't ready. Took a half stroke and stopped. It seems really weird to me that in an Olympic Trials final you can just do that. Can you do that at the Olympics? The objective of Trials is to ensure that...

Re: US Squad and Racing

Rowing announcers have to stop talking like educators. Would anyone watch basketball if the announcers spent half their time explaining dribbling? Anyone bothering to tune in already interested enough to not have to be won over or educated. Call the race. Who's moving, who's rowing well, who's in t...

Excellent piece by Cath Bishop on the approach by the Cambridge women’s team and how getting away from the macho “win at all costs” mentality improved their performance https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2024/apr/03/cambridge-women-boat-race-culture-sport-cath-bishop-rowing I always like hearin...

Re: 2024 Boat Race

Think I’d be pissed if I were Oxford women’s coach tonight. Phelps is a Cambridge man. The facts were simple, Cambridge took water that wasn’t theirs too soon and got clipped Edit: my wife disagrees with me Oxford had already lost the race before then. A couple of their rowers were losing technique...

Does anyone know where to find the results? The regatta website is worse than the World Rowing site.

Hopefully we don’t leave any good athletes behind.
I suspect that whoever misses out in the single will try to help the quad qualify for Paris.

Re: IOC could issue medals to those impacted by East German doping

How sad that Kolbe would receive his illusive gold medal weeks after passing GB receives 2 Bronze medals in 4+ and 4- for Seoul And Redgrave gets bumped up from bronze to silver in the M2+ Sure, but he has Olympic medals coming out of his ears. For Peel, Mulkerins, Berresford and Buckingham Maxey, ...
